Installing ISA CD-ROM Adapter Card

  1.  Select the I/O address.
     The Adapter card is preset to address 300H-303 If you have another adapter  adapter card at I/O address 300-303, or if you are installing a second ISA CD-ROM  adapter card, you must insure that the cards are at different I/O addresses.  To change the I/O address, refer to the following table.

  2.  The CD-ROM Drive is preset to Drive-ID '0'. If you have to install a  another Drive, be sure that you have selected a different Drive-ID.
  3.  If this is the first time CD-ROM installation on the machine  Insert the ISA CD-ROM Option/Device Driver Diskette into drive A.

    For IBM DOS 3.3 or higher

     Type A:UINSTALL: at the operating system prompt (usually C:) and press Enter.  Follow the instructions on the screen to install the CD-ROM support software.

    For IBM OS/2 V-2.0 or higher

    1.  Select either OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full Screen.
    2.  Type DDINSTALL at the operating system prompt (usually C:\) and  press ENTER.  Follow the instructions on the screen to install the correct device driver for your version of OS/2.
    3.  After the device driver has been installed you will be instructed to remove the diskette from drive A, and  restart your computer. It is not necessary to restart the computer at this time. Proceed to OS/2 ISA CD-ROM Drive Support Software.

    OS/2 Support Software

     For OS/2 2.0 Installation:

    1.  From the OS/2 Main Menu, select OS/2 System.
    2.  From the OS/2 System menu, select System Set-Up.
    3.  From the System Setup menu, select Selective Install.
    4.  This will display the System Configuration menu.
    5.  Scroll through the selections menus (by pressing OK) until you reach the OS/2 Setup and Installation screen.
    6.  Select and install the CD-ROM Device Support option.
      NOTE: Do not continue to the 'More...' screen for additional choices.
    7.  Follow the OS/2 installation procedure indicated.
    8.  You have now concluded installing the CD-ROM support software

     For OS/2 2.1 Installation:

    1.  From the OS/2 Main Menu, select OS/2 System.
    2.  From the OS/2 System menu, select System Set-Up.
    3.  From the System Setup menu, select Selective Install.
    4.  This will display the System Configuration menu.
    5.  Select the CD-ROM Device Support option.
    6.  A list of several CD-ROM devices appears. Select OTHER and select OK.
    7.  The System configuration menu will appear again. Select OK.
    8.  Follow the OS/2 installation procedures indicated on the screen.
  4.  You have now completed installing the CD-ROM support software.
     Remove the diskette from drive A and restart the computer.

Parameters that effect the DOS - MSCDEX.EXE operation.

the name to use to locate the device driver. This name must be identical to the device-driver name given for the DEVICE entry in CONFIG.SYS.

as the first letter when assigning the ISA CD-ROM drive letter. Instead of starting at the first free drive letter. MSCDEX.EXE starts at the drive letter specified by this parameter.

caching information on the CD-ROM. The default value reserves 20KB for sector caching for each drive.

     This parameter indicates to MSCDEX.EXE

/M:value    Tells MSCDEX.EXE how much memory to allocate for
/V    Provides memory-use statistics such as how much
/E    Enables MSCDEX.EXE to use expanded memory for caching
/S    Tells MSCDEX.EXE to allow an ISA CD-ROM drive,

Parameters that effect the DOS - CDROMDOS.SYS operation.
