Power on w/o control panel or System Mgmt. Processor
A cable connected to these pins allows easy access
while the processor support tray is installed, it's
white wire indicates pin 1.

11 RAID download jumperblock (J15)
Default = No jumper
This jumperblock is used when the RAID adapter
EEPROM is being updated.

12 Reserved - Default = Pin 1-2 (J25)

24 Disable Adv. System-Mgmt.-Proc. jumper block (J51)
Normal operation = No jumper
Jumper on J51 = Disable the Netfinity Adv.Syst.Mgmt.
Processor (only for diagnostic purposes).

Normal operation of the server with J51 jumpered is not supported
A system operated in this manner is limited in the following ways:
1. No system error logging.
2. No monitoring of systemfunctions for problem.
3. No automatic recovery after an NMI error.
4. Error indication ability is very limited.

25 Fan connector (J36)
26 Diskette drive connector (J22)

27 Power on Password override jumper block (J24)
Changing the position of this jumper bypasses the
power-on password check if the jumper has been moved
since the last power-on.
You do not need to move the jumper back to the default
position after the PW is overridden.
J24 does not affect the administrator PW if an
administrator PW is set.

28 Flash ROM page swap jumper block (J30)
Default = Pin 2-3
Changing the position of this jumper will
change which of the two pages of Flash ROM
is used when the system is started

47 Reset (Default = No Jumper) system jumperblock (J34)
Installing a jumper on pins 1-2 will force the
system into the reset state.

Note:

  1.  Turn off the server, and disconnect the power cords before moving any jumpers.
  2.  Be sure the microprocessor bus-to-core ratio is set correctly.  For example, if you have a 400MHz microprocessor installed and the system bus speed is  100MHz (the default), jumpers J28-J31 are set to a bus-to-core fraction of 4 (400/100).  (See the following table.)

If the microprocessor bus-to-core fraction is incorrect, systemboard components will overheat and component damage might occur.
Be sure that the microprocessor core frequency selection is properly set.

Memory-Module Kits

The server comes with a memory DIMM module installed on the memory board connector J1, the connector nearest the top of the server.

Install additional memory modules in connectors J5, J2, J6, J3, J7, J4, and J8, in that order.
If you mix DIMM sizes, install the largest sized DIMM in connector J1, the next large sized DIMM in connector J5, and so forth.

The server supports a minimum of 128MB and a maximum of 4GB of system memory.
The memory-module sizes available for server 5500-M20 are 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB DIMMS.

Install only 3.3V, 168-pin, 8-byte, registered DIMMs.
Only 100MHz, 72-bit, registered synchronous, error correcting code (ECC), x4 configuration DIMM memory is supported for the 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB DIMMs.

After install/remove any DIMM, you must save the new configuration information in the Configuration/Setup program. When you restart the server, the system displays a message indicating that the memory configuration has changed. Start the Configuration/Setup program and select Save Settings.
