System Security / Password Overview

To control access to the server, you can implement the security features described in the User' Reference, including defining two levels of password protection and restricting diskette drive access.

The System Security choice appears only on the full Configurataion/Setup menu.

Password Overview The srver supports both, a power-on password and an administrator password.

If passwords are set, the server displays the Enter password prompt  when:

The password do not appear on the screen as you type them. When you enter the correct password, OK appears on the screen. If you enter the wrong password, Incorrect password appears on the screen, and Enter password is again displayed. After three incorrect attempts, you must power-off the server and start again.

The following table summarizes the levels of security with the different levels of password protection.

Administrator

° User must enter password to access the Setup

° Administrator password provides access to all choices
on the Setup utility program menu.
Administrator

° User can enter either password to complete the system
startup.
° Administrator password provides access to all choices
on the Setup utility program menu.
Administrator password menu can enable the power-on
paswword user to change the power-on password.
° Power-on password provides access to a limited set
of choices on the Setup utility program menu.
