Installing the Video Features Diskette for   Windows NT

Install the Video Features Diskette to display various resolution and color depth configurations.

Installing for Windows NT 3.51 

To install the Video Features Diskette for Windows NT 3.51, do the following:
  1.  Start Windows NT Workstation and log on the system.
  2.  Click on Control Panel
  3.  Click on Display
  4.  Click on Change Display Type... in the Display Setting menu.
  5.  Click on Change in the Display Type menu.
  6.  Click on Other... in the Select Device menu.
  7.  Insert the Video Features Diskette for Windows NT 3.51 in the diskette drive.  You will see the display devices in the selection list.
  8.  Select IBM ThinkPad (Cyber 9320/9385/9382) from the display devices in the selection list.
  9.  Click on the Install button.
  10.  Restart Windows NT after installation to make the change effective.
  11.  After rebooting Windows NT, display resolution is set to 640x480 with 256 colors as default.  Change the resolution or refresh rate to other values if necessary. To change the values, do the following:

    1.  Go to Control Panel
    2.  Click on Display
    3.  In the Display Setting menu, click on List All Modes.
    4.  Select one mode from the list.
    5.  Click on the Test button and make sure that the selected mode is displayed correctly.
    6.  Reboot Windows NT to make the changes effective.


Installing for Windows NT 4.0 

To install the Video Features Diskette for Windows NT 4.0, do the following:
  1.  Start Windows NT, and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2.  Click on My Computer
  3.  Click on Control Panel and then Display
  4.  In the Display Properties menu, click on Settings tab, then click on Display Type....
  5.  In the Display Type menu, click on Change
  6.  Click on Have Disk....
  7.  Insert the Video Features Diskette for Windows NT 4.0 into the diskette drive, then click on OK.  A selection list appears listing the display device.
  8.  From the display devices in the selection list, select IBM ThinkPad (Cyber9320/9382/9385) and click on Install.
  9.  Click on Yes, then follow the instructions on the screen.
  10.  Restart Windows NT to make the change effective.
     After you restart Windows NT, the display resolution is set to
     640x480 with 256 colors as a default. If necessary, change the
     resolution and refresh rate as follows:
  11.  Click on My Computer
  12.  Click on Control Panel, then click on Display
  13.  In the Display Properties menu, click on the Settings tab.
  14.  Click on List All Modes... and select the resolution, color depth, and refresh frequency.
  15.  Click on Test and make sure the selected mode is displayed correctly on the screen. Click on OK


Using the Video Features Diskette for the External Monitor 

If you attach an external monitor to the computer, do the following to use the SVGA video driver with the attached monitor:
  1.  Start Windows NT, and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2.  When the OS Loader panel appears, prompting you to select the operating system, change  the screen to CRT-only mode by pressing theFn+F7 key combination.
  3.  Click on My Computer
  4.  Click on Control Panel, then on Display
  5.  In the Display Properties menu, click on the Settings tag.
  6.  Click on List All Modes..., then select the resolution, color depth, and refresh frequency.
  7.  Click on Test to make sure that the selected mode is displayed correctly on the monitor.
  8.  Click on OK
      Windows NT prompts you to restart the computer
