Diskette drive
Use the diskette drive actions to check the ability of a server to seek and
to read from a diskette.
Prerequisites for performing actions on a diskette drive
The diskette drive must contain a diskette.
Note: Defective diskettes might cause diskette drive test failures.
If an error occurs, use another diskette and repeat the test before concluding
that a drive is faulty.
Actions
Use the following actions to diagnose the diskette drive:
- Perform Linear Seek Test
Indicates whether the drive can access logical blocks sequentially on a diskette
by selecting logical blocks in a linear fashion.
- Perform Random Seek Test
Indicates whether the drive can access logical blocks sequentially on a diskette
by accessing logical blocks randomly.
- Perform Funnel Seek Test
Indicates whether the drive can access logical blocks on a diskette in a specific
funnel pattern.
- Scan Media for Surface Defects
Scans for surface defects on a diskette.
- Destructive:Pattern Write Test
Displays the size information for a diskette. This action is not available
on Linux systems.
Attention: The Destructive:Pattern Write Test might damage data on the
diskette.
Results
The Results field displays the results of the action and provides detailed
information for resolving issues. Use the documentation that comes with your
server for information about correcting a failed device.
