USB CD-ROM drive
Use the USB CD-ROM drive actions to verify the USB CD-ROM drive is functioning
properly.
Prerequisites for performing actions on the USB CD-ROM drive
To perform actions on the USB CD-ROM drive, a data CD must be inserted in the
drive.
Actions
Use the following actions to diagnose the USB CD-ROM drive:
- Verify CD Drive Media Inserted
Issues a command through the device driver to detect the media in the drive
and return information about the type of media. This action returns information
about the media including whether the drive contains media.
- Verify Ability to Read Files
Indicates whether there is a clean data path between the USB device and the
operating system. This action reads several files located on the drive, and
stores them in system memory. The action then reads the files from the CD
multiple times to verify that the results of each read are identical to the
first read. Any discrepancies result in the action failing.
- Eject CD
Issues a command through the device driver to eject the CD. When complete,
the action confirms that the media is not present in the drive. The result
from this action is pass or fail and the CD is ejected.
Results
The Results field displays the results of the action and provides detailed
information for resolving the problem. Use the documentation that comes with
your server or USB CD-ROM device for information about correcting a failed device.
