USB host controller
Use the USB host controller actions to verify information about the USB host
controller.
Prerequisites for performing actions on the USB host controller
The host controller device driver must be installed prior to performing these
actions.
Actions
Use the following actions to diagnose the USB host controller:
- View Status of Ports
Indicates whether the ports that are connected to the host controller are
functioning and valid. A passing condition is returned if all ports are functioning
properly. This action is not supported on Linux systems.
- View Port Tree
Displays a description of the USB tree and a brief description of the devices
that are connected on the tree. This action explores the USB tree through
the driver stack and displays a description of each device connected to the
tree. This action is not supported on Linux systems.
- View Device Information
Displays detailed information about each device on the USB tree that is connected
to the USB host controller. The information that is displayed includes the
class of the device, the name of the vendor, the name of the device, and the
revision levels of the device. This action is supported only for Windows systems.
On Linux-based systems, use the View USB Subsystem Information action.
- View USB Subsystem Information
Displays detailed information about each device on the USB tree that is connected
to the USB host controller. The information that is displayed includes the
class of the device, the name of the vendor, the name of the device, and the
revision levels of the device. This action is supported for Linux systems.
On Windows-based systems, use the View Device Information action.
Results
The Results field displays the results of the action and provides detailed
information for resolving the problem. Use the documentation that comes with
your server or USB host controller for information about correcting a failed
device.
