AIX DLC Support Package Information

The AIX DLC Support package contains filesets that install datalink control (DLC) filesets for the communications devices that are installed. A fileset exists for each DLC supported by the Communications Server product. These filesets contain nothing but the prerequisite logic necessary for installing DLC filesets. No executable code is shipped in these filesets.

Fileset Names

sna.instdlc.token	Communications Server Token Ring DLC Inclusion Fileset If one of the supported token-ring device drivers is installed, this fileset causes the corresponding DLC fileset to be installed.
sna.instdlc.ethernet	Communications Server Ethernet DLC Inclusion Fileset If one of the supported Ethernet device drivers is installed, this fileset causes the corresponding DLC filesets (standard and 802.3) to be installed.
sna.instdlc.fddi	Communications Server FDDI DLC Inclusion Fileset If one of the supported FDDI device drivers is installed, this fileset causes the corresponding DLC fileset to be installed.
sna.instdlc.sdlc	Communications Server SDLC DLC Inclusion Fileset If one of the supported SDLC device drivers is installed, this fileset causes the corresponding DLC fileset to be installed.
sna.instdlc.x25	Communications Server X.25 DLC Inclusion Fileset If one of the supported X.25 device drivers is installed, this fileset causes the corresponding DLC fileset to be installed.
sna.instdlc.channel	Communications Server Channel DLC Inclusion Fileset If one of the supported channel device drivers is installed, this fileset causes the corresponding DLC fileset to be installed.

Approximate Disk Space Required

The fixed disk space required by these filesets is negligible.

Special Installation Notes

The DLC filesets are shipped with the AIX DLC Support package (bos.dlc) to ensure their availability if needed. The DLC filesets are also provided by the AIX base operating system. The DLC filesets shipped with this package are at AIX 4.1.5 level. The 4.1.5 filesets do work on 4.2 and 4.3, but don't have all the updates for those levels. To ensure that you are using the latest level DLC filesets, use the filesets shipped with AIX.
