ADSM Invalid license record
ITEM: RS4000016678
**************> QUESTION level 1 --> level 2 SPECIALIST <**************
Is re-registering ADSM license password needed for
a RS/6000 SP wide-node which has been changed its I/O planner board?
And how about thin-node?
Our system:
RS/6000 SP wide-nodes and a 3494 with two 3590s
AIX: 3.2.5
ADSM: 2.1
Our ADSM server has not been working correctly, since we had changed
the I/O planner board.
We got the following message by "q actlog".
ANR9616I Invalid license record ... - it will be skipped.
So we fixed this problem by re-registering the license password
which is as same as before we have the trouble.
I think changing a I/O planner board does not take effect to the CPU
ID.
Best regards.

I can not find an ADSM specialist in our ITSO center. The only one
we had left and went back to England. I have submitted a question
with your scenario to a user forum I have access to on VM. If and
when I get a response, I will let you know. Feel free to email me
directly if you need, sgardner@austin.ibm.com or WTSPOK(SGARDNER).
Thank you

I have not received and answer to my query in the user forum I
submitted a question to on your behalf. I will continue to look
for a developer on this product in order to get an answer for you. Am
I correct in thinking you are operational at this time because of
re-registering the password?

Yes, you are right. After we had have the trouble, we registered
the same password to the ADSM server again. Then we deleted
the old license entries from /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin/adsmserv.liceses
file.
And now the ADSM server works quite well.
The password which we use has no limit about the period. So our
customer wants to know why this trouble occurred.
Thank you for spending answering to my quetion.

The answer I received from the user forum was that the password
re-registration is normal uncer the circumstances you described.
