We are trying to use the AFP Font Collection CD-ROM with PSF for AIX
Version 2, but are having problems. We're getting messages that none
of the coded fonts or codepages exist¢ All of the character sets
appear to be okay.
To be specific, if I mount the CD-ROM on my AIX system, I can change
(cd) to the affected directories. If I do an "ls" command, all the
files are listed but if I try "ls -l", I get a message from ls:
0653-341: The file ______ does not exist
for every file in that directory. I get the same result when I issue
other commands as well. The affected directories are:
./afpfonts/codefont/apl
./afpfonts/codefont/arabic
./afpfonts/codefont/compats
./afpfonts/codefont/cyrgrk
./afpfonts/codefont/hebrew
./afpfonts/codefont/katakana
./afpfonts/codefont/lat2345
./afpfonts/codefont/latin1
./afpfonts/codefont/ocr
./afpfonts/codefont/symbols
./afpfonts/codefont/thai
./afpfonts/codepage
The other directories appear to be okay, at least in my quick tests.
I do not have the capability to test under OS/2 (where the CD-ROM can
also be used).
What's going on?

There was a known problem using the first release (-00) of the AFP Font
Collection CD-ROM on AIX and PSF/AIX. The CD-ROM has since been
refreshed to fix the problem with the original build. In addition,
on LK2T-1369-02, AIX installp versions of the fonts have been added.
In the meantime, as a workaround, all fonts on the current release of
the CD-ROM are also shipped on the PSF/AIX V2 product tape. So you can
do a selective install of those fonts that you need. I don't recommend
installing all the fonts unless you have lots of fixed disk space
available--about 279.4MB. Sizes for the individual components are in
the announcement letter and in the Print Administration manual.
The existing CD-ROM works fine with PSF/2 on OS/2.
