Customer has a large Novell network with many laser printers managed
via Novell Netware 4.1. They would like to implement PSF/6000 to
handle some AIX printing, and have the print routed to Novell for
printing on the Novell managed LAN printers.
How do I set up the PSF/6 and AIX environment to seamlessly move data
from PSF/6 to the Novell server and printer queue? Is there Novell code
which can be added to AIX to facilitate the PSF/6 to Novell
communications? Is there some TCP/IP code which can be used in the
Novell server to facilitate the PSF/6 to Novell communications?

The two possible products from Novell to add this functionality are
NetWare FLeX/IP or NetWare NFS. The particular NLM that you are
interested in is the Line Printer Gateway NLM, which according to
the Novell literature, "provides a standard mechanism from UNIX clients
to submit print jobs to NetWare print queues. UNIX users use native
commands (lpr, lpq, lprm) to access NetWare-attached printers."
The flyers they faxed to me indicate that either product requires
NetWare 3.11 or higher.
