PRINT XPSF6000
I have a customer with a host MVS, him need use a psf/6000 as print
server connected to MVS through parallel channel, the questions is
Which are the elements of hardware and software necesary to print data
from MVS to PSF/6000 ?
Best Regards.
A:
If you have PSF/MVS then the best product to use is the MVS/DOWNLOAD
component of PSF/MVS. If you do not have PSF/MVS and it is line data
then you could use the IP PrintWay component of the OS/390 Print Server
if you have OS/390 V2R5 or if on MVS then IP PrintWay independent
feature of PSF/MVS which does not require a base license of PSF/MVS.
With the latter solution (IP PrintWay) you would use the TCP/IP LPR
method to send the print data to an AIX queue to be picked up by
PSF/AIX.
Regarding hardware... As long as the channel connection supports TCP/IP
then both methods will work. If not you will either have to establish
a LAN connection or figure out another way to get the data across a
link such as SNA NJE and the associated software. That information
would have to come from the AIX folks. Hope this answers your questions
