PSF/AIX
..
Using PSF/AIX to transform and print an ASCII datastream created from
an application, is there any way to cause a 3160 printer to jog at
specified points within the datastream. The printed report consists
of output for multiple departments, and the customer would like a way
to separate the reports for ease of operator handing.
A:
PSF for AIX jogs:
1) if a BDT is encountered and the associated medium map (which may
be the default) specifies offset stacking;
2) if an IMM is encountered and causes eject-to-new-sheet, then if
AOS is specified in the medium map jogging is performed. (AOS is
"alternate offset stacker"; it's the command that is sent to the
hardware to make it "jog".);
3) always between jobs and for copies within the job.
So to net it out, PSF for AIX does honor JOG on an IMM for a copygroup
that specifies "JOG" . So if you have a copygroup that specifies JOG,
either include IMMs in the data set or use a pagedef with conditional
processing to select the copygroup that specifies JOG on the pages
where you want it.
Thanks for using WWQ&A.
