QUESTION:
I have a customer who has some questions regarding the different
workbench products available and what would be the most
cost efficient and advantageous for him. He has installed now:
C++
Fortran
Workbench V1
Integrator V1
He is looking at upgrading or using the following products:
C++ Powerbench V2
Fortran Powerbench
Workbench V2
Integrator V2
Some questions are:
1. Do the C++ and Fortran Powerbench products have redundant code
the workbench part of it? Would you install both of them
or just the different languages?
2. If we install the C++ and Fortran Powerbench products do we
no longer need the Workbench V2 product since that is part
of the Powerbench products.
3. Do we need to upgrade to the Integrator V2 to work with the
Powerbench products V2.
4. If we already have installed and committed Workbench and
Integrator V1 on the system will we have a problem when we
upgrade to either the PowerBench V2 products or Integrator V2.

A: I will answer your questions in the order they were given.
1. Yes, the C++ and Fortran PowerBench products have redundant
code for the workbench part. Actually, the PowerBench products
are just repackaging of the compiler requested and the
SDE WorkBench/6000 version 2. There is no added functionality
in the PowerBench that you would not get if you purchased the
two separately.
After installing one PowerBench you need only install the
Language portion of the second PowerBench.
2. Yes, the PowerBench products install the Workbench V2 product.
3. Yes, you will need to upgrade the Integrator to Version 2 in
order to work with the PowerBench products V2.
4. You should have no problems upgrading either the PowerBench V2
products or the Integrator V2. I have not heard of any
such problems but if you do run into something please
let us know.
