XWINDOWS SCROLLED LIST SIZE
ITEM: RTA000053029
QUESTION:
Using the XmCreateScrolledList function of Xwindows I've found that
OVER A PERIOD OF TIME MY SYSTEM PERFORMANCE DEGRADES. IT APPEARS
TO BE RELATED TO THE FACT THAT ALL DATA PASSED TO THE SCROLLED
LIST IS MAINTAINED BY THE SYSTEM. IS THERE A FEATURE OF THE
SCROLL SUPPORT THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO FLUSH OUT THE CONTENTS OF
THE SCROLLED DATA OR LIMIT THE SIZE TO WHICH IT WILL GROW. I'VE
SEARCHED INFO EXPLORER AND HAVE FOUND NO ANSWERS.

A: The XmCreateScrolledList function creates an instance of a List
widget in a scrolled window widget. To control or flush out the
contents of the List widget, you may use one or more of the following
functions:
XmListDeleteAllItems
XmListDeleteItem
XmListDeleteItems
XmListDeleteItemsPos
XmListDeletePos
XmListDeselectAllItems
The use of these functions is documented in the Technical Reference:
User Interface, Volume 6 (SC23-2387-01). There is not a function that
will set a limit to the size to which the List widget will grow.
