QUESTION:
Does AIX support Point-to-Point Protocol, or PPP?
---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) is an Internet standard (RFC 1171)
for transmission of multi-protocol datagrams over point-to-point
serial links. If you like to find out more about PPP, you can
obtain the RFC from your VM ID by executing the command:
TOOLS SENDTO ALMVMA ARCNET RFC GET RFC1171 TXT
PPP support has been added to AIX 4.1.4. It is also available on the
IBM 6611 Network Processor. For more information on the 6611 see
ASKQ library item Q573181, entitled "INFORMATION BUCKET FOR THE
6611 NETWORK PROCESSOR".
Independent vendors offer PPP for earlier versions of AIX, e.g.,
