WHAT COMMANDS CAN DSMIT RUN?

QUESTION:
What kind of commands are you able to run via DSMIT? I am trying
to do a trial with HP-UX clients and an AIX server? I have read
the DSMIT user guide, but it doesn't give too much detail on
what you can do with the tool. Could you list 5 or 6 commands
that DSMIT can run (the first DSMIT screen would be helpful too)

---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: For AIX clients, DSMIT can do everything that SMIT can do. For other
clients, like the HP-UX clients, DSMIT will try to emulate SMIT
functionality as best as possible across the platforms. Since other
UNIX platforms do not have any equivalent commands for some of AIX's
commands (such as most LVM commands, for example), there will be no
menus for these on the other clients.

The first menu that DSMIT brings up gives you a choice of "System
Management" and "Domain Management". The "System Management" choice
will bring you into the SMIT-like screens where you can perform
administrative tasks, as in SMIT. The "Domain Management" choice
will allow you to configure DSMIT. Options available below this
menu include "Add machines with DSMIT installed", and "Define Working
Collective". The first menu within "System Management" for HP clients
includes all menus available in normal SMIT, except for "Problem
Determination", and any third-party SMIT additions (like Sysback).

For HP clients, sample commands that can be executed include "update",
"updist", and "rmfn" for software installation/maintenance; "dump" for
backing up filesystems; and "lifls" for listing contents of a disk.

There are also some commands that other clients do not have a direct
equivalent of, but code is added to emulate AIX functionality of these
commands, such as "mkuser" and "rmuser".

---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
