HOW TO FIND THE FDDI DRIVER MICROCODE LEVELS
ITEM: RTA000041529
QUESTION:
How do I check the FDDI microcode level on a RS/6000 running AIX 3.2?

A: AIX 3.2.5 or later includes the microcode for the FDDI adapter.
Microcode is also shipped with adapters on new orders. You can
also receive new microcode in a PTF (with corresponding defect number
or APAR). Therefore, you can track it exactly the same way as you
track other PTFs or APARs.
The microcode file, if it becomes necessary to refer to it,
is /etc/microcode/8ef4m.02.xx, where xx represents the level
of the microcode as it is tracked by hardware developers and
AIX Software Defect Support Center. Please call AIX Software Defect
support at 1-800-237-5511 for the latest PTF number.
AIX 3.2.4 or earlier does not include FDDI microcode. They
are provided with adapters. The microcode file name is:
/etc/microcode/8ef4m.01.xx, where xx is the latest level
installed. At this point, you must call hardware support to
verify if the file you have installed is the latest version
available for AIX 3.2.4 and below. The RS/6000 Hardware
Support can be reached at 1-800-IBM-SERV.
Thank you.
