A: There is a command that will tell you where a file is located.
This command is the 'fileplace' command. This file is part of the
performance tools that are in /usr/lpp/bosperf/fileplace. The
command displays the placement of a file's blocks within a logical
or physical volume(s). For example I issued:
fileplace -p /etc/passwd
and was given:
File: /etc/passwd Size: 2171 bytes Vol: /dev/hd4 (4096 byte blks)
Physical blocks (mirror copy 1) Logical block
------------------------------- -------------
32971 hdisk0 1 blk, 4 KB, 100.0% 00139
More information on this command can be found with the
man pages for fileplace.
