Can the Cluster Power Control Feature (CPC) be installed in
a R00 rack with four R20s - or is this feature only available
for use with SMPs?
A: The Cluster Power Control option allows one to manage power on/off
control of up to 4 systems (at this point). The power controller
has modem and RS-232 serial interfaces for external communication.
The CPC will allow you to control the power to all connected CPUs
(up to 4) and drawers in the rack via modem or locally attached tty.
This action will take place with the help of the bump / service
processor of the SMP.
The remote and local management of individual CPUs is accomplished
with the SMPs. Since this is the case, ordering this feature with
all uniprocessor machines would be useless (if possible).
