ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE 9348 AND
ITEM: RTA000030283
QUESTION:
I am trying to respond to a Federal Government RFP and can't locate
some specific environmental information. I have two products that I am
missing some data on.
1) For the 9348 Tape Drive, what is the recommended temperature rate of
change in degrees per hour? For example if the temperature in the
room dropped below normal, what rate of temperature change could the
9348 take?
2) For the RS/6K 3.5-inch diskette drive, what is:
a) The EMI class?
b) The non-operating temperature range.
c) The temperature rate of change (same question as 9348)
d) The maximum elevation.
I have researched the H/W Technical References SA23-2646 and the
Common Diagnostics Service Guide SA23-2687.
---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: I haven't gotten a response for the 9348 yet, but here's the info
for the 3.5" diskette drive:
2) For the RS/6K 3.5-inch diskette drive, what is:
a) The EMI class?
Class B limits
b) The non-operating temperature range.
Shipping : -40C to 60C
Storage : 01C to 60C
c) The temperature rate of change (same question as 9348)
Gradient temperature = 10C/hr
d) The maximum elevation.
2135 meters (7000 feet)
I'll append the 9348 information when I get it.

QUESTION:
Can I ask for some additional information please? What are the
BTV and KW numbers for the equipment also.
---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: The 9348/012 puts out 410 BTU/hour, with a power requirement of
120 watts. I'm still working on the temperature change info for
the 9348 and the BTU's for the diskette drive.
---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: The gradient temperature for the 9348 (question #1) is 20 degrees
Celsius per hour (operating).
---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: The maximum BTU numbers for the diskette drive are:
Standby - 0.4 BTU/hr
Operating - 11.2 BTU/hr
For average BTU's, simply factor in the percentage of time that the
drive is in either state.
