CAN I SHARE AN NFS MOUNTED DRIVE ON MY OS/2 LAN SERVER WITH MY DOS LAN REQUESTERS?

I am running OS/2 LAN Server 3.0 Advanced and TCP/IP version 1.2.1
for OS/2. I can successfully mount a Unix file system on the OS/2
server machine, and I can successfully define an alias pointing to
this drive. On the DLR side, I can successfully execute a NET USE
on the fileset, but I can't get any result from a DIR on this drive.
Strangely, I can edit files on this drive, but executable files
do not run (get a Bad command or file name). Can I share an NFS
mounted drive as if it were a drive on the server machine, and if
so, how should I continue?

A: It appears that you do have this environment set up correctly. It
seems that the problems you are encountering may be limitations with
this environment. I do know that it is not possible to execute a DIR in
this environment. The command for this is different, however, I am not
familiar with the specifics for this environment. However, I will
transfer this question to the AIX group for further information on the
situation you are encountering above. They should be able to tell you
how to get the directory in this environment and how to run the
executable (if possible).

---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: I believe I see the problem you're having. You cannot accomplish
what you're attempting; you cannot share an NFS mounted drive as if it
were a drive on the server machine. You will need to mount the UNIX
file system directly from the PCs that want to access the information.
While your idea to force the OS/2 machine to be a server for all of
the PCs' file needs is a good one, it simply won't work, and this
   is why you're having problems.

The only workaround I know of is to mount the UNIX filesystem
directly from the PCs. If this is not an acceptable solution, I can
transfer this question back to the LAN Server group for any
   suggestions they might have.

   Specification.
