WHERE IS THE SYSTEM TEMPLATE FOR THE .LOGIN FILE?
ITEM: RTA000031559
QUESTION:
My customer is system manager for his RISC/6000. He routinely creates
users, which are are /bin/csh users. He would like to know where the
system gets the '.login' file which it puts into the new user's home
directory. Where is it coming from?
---------- ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ----------
A: The default .login file (for csh user) is created by the
/etc/security/mkuser.sys script. If the user uses ksh the
/etc/security/.profile file is copied to the home directory of the
user.
