NFS problem with AIX 3.1.5 ERROR MESSAGE 0403-015, ATTEMPTING TO RUN A FORTRAN PROGRAM ACROSS NFS ON AIX
ITEM: RTA000027378
Question:
A user on our RISC System/6000 Model 530 created a FORTRAN executable
file in his $HOME/bin directory (/u/briane/bin). The code works fine
for him, and for other system users logged into the 530. The
problem arises when a user logged into the ethernet attached RISC
System/6000 Model 550 tries to run the file. The referenced error
is generated with verbage about executable file already in use. The
directory is resident on the 550, and is NFS mounted to the 530. If
the user copies the executable into his (or her) own directory, it
executes fine.

A: The error message 0403-015 is an NFS problem with AIX 3.1.5. The
created server code on NFS was incrementing the gnode write count,
which is correct, but leaves the file open at the end of create. A
close was added in a fix.
