## This item contains characters that may not print or display ##
## correctly on all systems. A flag line has been placed BENEATH ##
## each line that contains one or more of those characters. Flag ##
## lines can be identified by the characters "@@" in columns 71 ##
## and 72. The position of each unprintable or non-displayable ##
## character is identified by one of the following letters ##
## contained in the flag line and located directly beneath that ##
## character. ##
## ##
## A - left square bracket G - logical not ##
## B - right square bracket H - exclamation point ##
## C - left brace I - vertical bar ##
## D - right brace J - back slash ##
## E - percent sign K - tilde ##

Common Problems of 3151
MODEL IDENTIFICATION
1. Model 110 if Machine Modes are: IBM 3151 and 10 ASCII Emulations.
Must use the 84-key ASCII keyboard.
2. Model 310/410 if Machine Modes are: IBM 3151, IBM 3101 and 10
ASCII Emulations. 310 is green and 410 is amber-gold.
Must use the 102-key ASCII keyboard.
3. Model 510/610 if Machine Modes are: IBM 3151PC, 3151PCII and
TVI925PC Mode. 510 is green and 610 is amber-gold.
Must use the 101-key PS/2 keyboard.
4. 3151 Video Display Part Numbers
110 81X4500 09F3483
310 81X4501 09F3484
410 81X4511 09F3485
510 ------- 38F5101
610 ------- 38F5104
FUNCTION KEYS DO NOT WORK
1. AIX requires 'Turnaround Character = CR' in Communication Setup,
default is ETX.
2. Using 3151 Model 510/610, and application redefines the function
keys. The Model 510/610 DOES NOT support redefinition of
function keys. Requires a model 310/410.
3. An application, (example UNIPLEX) redefines function keys on
models 310/410 and does not reset the function keys back to
default values when exiting UNIPLEX. Host must transmit 3151
`Set All Function Keys Command' (ESC SP t).

INSERT KEY DOES NOT WORK
1. Change INSERT CHARACTER setup option between MODE and SPACE.
DOUBLE CHARACTERS ARE DISPLAYED
1. Change OPERATING MODE from CHAR to ECHO.
DOUBLE PROMPT WHEN ENTER/RETURN KEY IS PRESSED on AIX
1. Change NEW LINE setup option from CR/LF to CR.
3151 LOCKS UP
1. Turn on 'Status Line' either from keyboard or from setup. This
provides additional information. The following items may be
displayed on status line:
'HOST BUSY' - Host told 3151 do not send data to host.
Problem must be corrected at host.
KEYS LOCKED - Host sent 'Keyboard Lock' command. Host must
send Keyboard Unlock' command. Problem must be
corrected at host.
HOLD SCREEN - Operator pressed 'Hold' or 'Pause' key, must
press 'Hold' or 'Pause' key again.
2. Operator accidentally pressed Ctrl-S (XOFF), press Ctrl-Q (ON).
3151 DOES NOT COMMUNICATE TO HOST
1. Turn on 'Status Line', if 'COMM NOT READY 2' is displayed,
change 'Line Control' = IPRTS.
2. Host cable is attached to Auxiliary port rather than the Main
port. The main port is on the right hand connector, looking
from the back.
3. The Transmit Data, Receive Data pins do not match the host
communications port. Check pin configuration on the host system.
4. The host system does not have communications port enabled.
5. Second session not working when using Connectivity Cartridge in
Dual Session by Dual Port. The directions of pins 2 (TD) and
3 (RD) are reversed. Switch pins 2 and 3 on the communications
cable attached to the Auxiliary port.
3151 MISSING or LOSING CHARACTERS
1. Pacing problem - reduce line speed to 2400 or 4800 and confirm
that it is a pacing problem. Activate pacing at the 3151 and the
host.
3151 LOSING SETUP VALUES
1. Host could be changing setup values by various 3151 commands:
Set Control, Create Viewport.
2. User changes setup options in setup menu, but never performs the
'Save' operation, must cursor to 'Save' and press spacebar.

- 310/410/510/610 video element with a 110 keyboard,
impossible to enter setup.

not have DEC Keycap kit. Press the F3 key, the location of the
setup key when in DEC emulation.

the Receive and Transmit data pins.
3151 DISPLAYS BACKWARDS QUESTION MARKS
1. A frame error, the: Parity, Word Length, Stop Bits, Line Speed
must match the host system.
THE (*,/,-,Alt,Ctrl,Page Up,Page Down) KEYS ARE NOT WORKING
1. Using a model 510/610 in ASCII Mode, keyboard becomes a 310/410
ASCII Layout. Refer to page 3-1, 3-2 of 3151 Guide to Operations.
Models 51,61.
LINE DRAWING CHARACTERS DO NOT DISPLAY
1. A character mismatch between host and 3151. 3151 offers the
following character sets: Special Graphics, PC 00437, PC 00850,
ISO 8859/1.2. Determine the character set defined in 3151,
and what host is expecting.
APPLICATION IS NOT DISPLAYING CORRECTLY
1. Host commands are not matching what 3151 is set to. 3151 is set
