Is there the addtrap.sh that define 8271-712's traps in trapd.conf of
NetView? We installed Nways Manager for AIX V1.2, but our 8271-712
sometimes sends the unknown format traps to NetView. Gennerally the
definition of trapd.conf for a device were added automatically during
the installation of Nways Manager, if the device is supported .
Is this behavior not correct about 8271-712?

There are trap definitions for 8271s that should have been added with
the install of Nways. You can check the /usr/OV/conf/C/trapd.conf file
for all the 8271 entries(grep 8271 /usr/OV/conf/C/trapd.conf) for the
trap(s) in question.
The scripts that should have added the traps are in /usr/CML/bin
and are ibm8271.addtraps and ibm8271e.addtraps.
Check these out and respond back if further problem.

I think 8271.addtrap is the script for model 108 and 216 not for model
3 Com OEM series such like 512,624,712...
In my customer's environment, 8271 model 712 sent NetView traps that
have the enterprise ID "1.3.6.1.2.1.11" . These traps are handled as
the unknown format because trapd doesn't know that enterprise ID.
We would like to know the following.
1) What traps does 8271 3Com OEM series supports?
2) Is there the specific addtrap script for 8271 3Com OEM series?
If the answer for Q2 is no. We must write the own addtrap script.
