Problem:
Before customer starts the netview (nv6000)
he receives the message that the daemon AHMTOPOD
was not initialized and it is asked for the command
/usr/CML/bin/cmlstart ahmtopod to be given. Customer
has to give the ovstart cmld before. If the daemon
was not started, the machine hangs.

           Netview enters seemingly without problems.
When the customer double click in 8274 icon
(Nways) the following message is visualized:

Can you help this customer configure his NetView v5 system. I think we
could just say we don't claim to support NetView v5, but I know Jim has
figured out how to make it work. There was a recent NWAYSMGT FORUM
append from him about that.

Your description is good for the things you checked.
Additionally, is the icon truly representing the ObjectID of an 8274?
This would be necessary. Also, perform an "snmpwalk <8274hostname> syste
m" and see that the community strings are properly set in the 8274 and
the NV station.
Also, when clicking the icon, are you "double-clicking" or using some
other menu pull-down? (Use double-clicką)
Also, in /usr/lpp/mgtapptran/bin do you have an entry for R8274s10 that
is linked to /usr/CML/PSM/8274/bin/R8274s10 that truly exists? It must
be.

For the ahmtopod startup, try to implement the tip documented on the
web at http://www.networking.ibm.com/cma/ and look for the tip on
ahmdbserver registration....check your LIBPATH also.

Try these and update status.
Thanksą

Hello CT,

Customer related today that the only problem with 8274 happens

It is possible that the PSM for the 8274 startup of RouteSwitchMgr is
not running....the process is R8274s10...perform a check to see if it
is running (ps -ef | grep R8274s10).
IF it is NOT running, edit the file /usr/lpp/mgtapptran/bin/ed.conf and
add a line for this PSM(R8274s10). After adding the line to ed.conf,
stop your NV EUIs and then start your NV EUI. The newly started EUI
should start the R8274s10 process and the terminal window from which
you start NV EUI will show a message for the starting of these PSMs
as well, including the R8274s10.

The failure of ahmtopod to start seems to be a close timing relationship
with other "ahm" processes and objectstore server.
The installation of the latest NWAYS
v1.2.1(orderable as PTF U456595) has resolved the anomaly in at least
one installation...
An EASIER change to try would be to find the entries in /etc/inittab
for "netview" and "ostoreserv" and REVERSE their order in the file.
This may resolve the problem as well. If you are NetView v4, there is
no entry called "netview" in /etc/inittab...in this case, move the
entry "ostoreserv" just before the entry "rc.tcpip".

Based on your further description, I think this will fix your problems.
