After installing and customizing CICS/6000, I have reached
the step where I am attempting to connect a terminal session
to the running CICS with cicsterm. When running cicsterm
from the ibm3151 console, I receive the message "NO
BINDINGS" followed by:
ERZ5701E/3714 cannot access message catalogue cics.cat for ERZ1162I
ERZ5701E/3716 .............................................ERZ1163E
I am then returned to the command prompt. I notice that
cics.cat is present in three locations on the system. I am
logged in as root, have CICS in my group list and am
authenticated as cell_admin. My LANG variable is set to
"C".
My CICSREGION, SFS and LOG variables are set in
etc/environments.

CICS/6000 is fully NLS enabled and relies on the setting of
your current locale to display messages. If you order
CICS/6000 in the US, messages are only available in the
En_US (US English) locale. To use the US English locale you
must have bsl.en_US.aix.loc (the base system locale for US
English) installed.
To set the locale to En_US for your entire machine, you can
use the 'chlang En_US' (or smitty chlang) command.
If you wish to run multiple locales (where the machine
locale is not US English), users of the CICS/6000 client
(e.g. cicsterm) must set LANG=En_US sometime before
invoking the CICS/6000 process (e.g. add LANG=En_US in the
specific user's .profile file).
In this multiple locale environment, the CICS/6000 region
messages will display properly if you set LANG=En_US in the
region environment file (i.e.
/var/cics_regions//environment, where
is the name of your CICS/6000 region).
