Object icons

What controls which icon I am getting? For instance the machine that
Netview/6000 is running on has the generic icon but the RS
next to it shows a workstation symbol.
ANSWER
There is a file /usr/OV/conf/C/oid_to_sym which maps from the MIB
variable sysObjectId to NV/6000 symbol types/classes. So when NV/6000
first discovers a node, it retrieves sysObjectId, performs a lookup
in the oid_to_sym file and if it finds a hit, uses the symbol listed.
In your case, your NV6000 machine is probably showing as a generic
computer type because it has a bug in the snmpd daemon. Some early
versions of AIX 3.2.5 shipped a version of snmpd that returned an
invalid response for sysObjectId. To verify this, select your node and
use Tools->MIB Browser to display sysObjectId. If the result ends in
".107" then you need to apply AIX PTF u424404 or its supersede ptf to
fix the snmpd agent.
