Question about AIX SNA Manager/6000
ITEM: RTA000068413
I'd like to know about SNA Manager/6000.
Q1. Could you let me know about the hierarchy of submaps supplied
by SNA Manager/6000?
Looking into the discussion in the "SNAMGR FORUM", its hierarchy
is similar to GMF views defined on S/390 NetView.
But can we customize the submaps of SNA Manager/6000, like
we can do on IP maps on NetView/6000? ( say, putting some routers
and networks into one location symbol by cut&paste...)
Or do we have to finish all the hierarchy customization
on NetView/390?
Q2. It seems we have to transfer the view data from NetView/390 to
SNA Manager/6000.
But do we have to do it every time we add or delete LU or PU
definition? And if true, do we have to transfer whole view data,
or only the changed part of data?
Q3. We can see SNA Manager's submaps and IP submaps in 1 display.
But is there any function to correlate SNA resources with
certain IP resources? (Say, one RISC/6000 might have PUs and
IP addresses, but is there any standard function to know
which PU co-exists with which IP node, and visa-versa?)
ANSWER
A1: Yes, the same customization features of nv6000 are available
to the SNA views. You can even copy/paste IP and sna resources
into the same submap.
A2: You will only need to redo PU definitions. The LU's are dynamically
built. For the PU's, you will need to RE-FTP all the views and
rebuild them.
A3: SNA/IP correlation is not done by SNA Manager/6000.
There is no data available from VTAM or NetView that
indicates that a SNA resource is also an IP resource,
and what its IP address would be.
