I have problems running nv/6000 on 250 ( AIX 3.2.5)
When I installed the nv/6000, SMIT displayed OK message, but
NV/6000 Configuration ( OVEMS-RUN , OVEMS-LOG ) has been failed.
The following are ERROR message in /tmp/update.log file.
ERROR: Cannot start ovesmd with ovstart
ERROR: Customize script for fileset OVEMS-RUN failed
ERROR: Cannot start ovelmd with ovstart
ERROR: Customize script for fileset OVEMS-LOG failed
Ovstart command shows me the following errors

I am using nv6000 without Event cards
Pls tell me why it is. Thanks in advance.........
ANSWER
Normally, such problems are caused with your not having SNMP configured
ok. Check your snmpd.conf and ensure that everything looks ok and
that snmpd is running on your machine.
If snmpd and snmpd.conf looks ok you could try running
/usr/OV/bin/xnmsnmpconf and see if that looks as expected.
Lastly, I have seen situations where SMIT MAINTAIN/REBUILD BINARY MIB ...
has straightened things out when install did not seem to go ok (again:
normally due to snmpd-type problems).
Or: make sure snmp is configured ok, started and re-install. If the
install (check to see, via SMIT.LOG or the nv6000 install log) still
does not work ok -- open a product defect may be in order.
