Have the following printers been tested with the RS/6000 :
- Honeywell CompuPrint LINA 34
- Honeywell Compuprint 4/66
- Bull Compuprint 4/68
My customer wants to migrate to a rs6000 but he has to know if he can
still use his printers with the RS6000.
ANSWER
These printers are not supported under AIX, but the Bull Compuprint 924N
and the Compuprint 9702 (in appropriate mode) are supported under AIX.
Basically, any print will work if it has either a Centronics Parallel
connection or a RS-232 serial connection with xon/xoff flow control and
the proper DTR flow control, but the printer will not have the full
functions of a virtual printer, because it will need to be defined a
"other serial printer" or "other parallel printer", another option would
be for your customer to create own virtual entry to use (see InfoExplorer
for details).
Particularly, there are PMRs about model 4/68 and it says it is working
with appropriate cable.
