Can we connect the terminal
server 7318-S20 to a Dec Alpha in a DecNet environment
without any RISC machine installed?
ANSWER
Unfortunately, the 7318 has not been tested on the DEC Alpha.
Therefore, we cannot guarantee that it will work in this
environment. However, I can give you the following tips on
loading a 7318 from a Non-AIX host.
1. You will need to insure that your network supports the
BOOTP protocol.
2. You must copy the 7318 software onto the non-AIX host.
3. You will need to store the load host name, the boot file name
and path, and the 7318-S20's IP address in the NVRAM on the
7318.
4. You will need to enable the tftpd daemon on the non-AIX
load host.
5. Finally, the DecNet environment must support TCP/IP on an
ethernet LAN if you are going to use the 7318-S20.
