Can you add a new disk into 9333 with its power on?
ITEM: RTA000064116
An SE in marketing raised the following question. Could you provide
me with the answer? I could not find descriptioion about it in any
documentation except that you can exchange disks with power on.
"Can you add new disks (PVs) into 9333-501 with its power on?"
I believe the answer is YES, and after putting the new disks, you
can make system (AIX) recognize the new disks by 'cfgmgr' or issuing
'mkdev' command.
Is my understanding right?
ANSWER
You are correct, the disk in the 9333 is hot swappable. The 9333 can
have concurrent maintenance of the disk drives while the subsystem
is active. Once the new disk is installed, you can run mkdev or
cfgmgr to make the disk available to the system.
Note that other parts of the 9333 do not allow concurrent maintenance.
The fan and power supply replacement requires powering down the
9333.
