Mounting a CD (mount /cdrom) with AIX 4.1 on a CD drive connected
to a AIX 3.2.5 system caused the following problems:
¢ cd /cdrom Works ok
¢ ls Lists the filenames on the CD, ok
¢ ls -l (or any other option) The following error-message occur
for each file on the CD
ls:0653-341 The file ...filename... does not exist.
The 3.2.5-system should "see" the filesystem on the CD as any
filesystem ? Listing the files (ls -l) when the CD is mounted on
the 4.1, the ls command works ok.

I was not able to reproduce this situation. Let me explain a test
I did. I mounted the Infoexplorer CD on a c10 at 4.1.1. Then
exported the cdrom filesystem via NFS. Then on a 320 at 3.2.5
mounted the cdrom filesystem from the c10. With this setup
I was able to list all the files on either the server or the
NFS client. Are you at AIX 4.1.1? If not,
try the same steps at the 4.1.1 level of code.
My problem where the opposite of what you tested. The AIX-CD
(AIX 4.1.1.1 for Clients) where mounted on a 3.2.5-system and
the error occured when listing the CD-ROM files on the 3.2.5-system.
It works ok when mounting the CD on a 4.1.1.0-system.

Today, I reproduced the error that was encountered. I mounted the 4.1.1
for Clients CD on an AIX 3.2.5 system. I was able to perform the 'ls'
command that you executed. However, I was not able to perform the 'ls-l'
command to list the files located on the CD-ROM. To explore the problem
even further, I mounted the 4.1.1 for Clients CD on an AIX 4.1.1 system.
This time the 'ls' command and the 'ls -l' command both executed
correctly. Similarly, I did an NFS export from the AIX 3.2.5 to the
AIX 4.1.1 system. The problem did occur. I also looked and this has
not been reported as a defect in the past. I would have like to test
this with a different AIX 4.1 CD, such as InfoExplorer but did not have
one available.
