Compatibility between RLM and DCE
ITEM: RTA000077737
My customer is looking for using DFS (included in OSF/DCE) on RS6K
that use CATIA to share CATIA models on the network.
Licenses of CATIA are managed by RLM that use NCS. When reading
the AIX DCE Overview, it seems that it is not possible to run
the llbd daemon (location broker of NCS) and DCE on the same machine.
So I wonder if RLM can run properly on a DFS client.
ANSWER
The rpcd daemon of DCE will run in place of the NCS llbd daemon. It will
perform all of the operations that the llbd normally did. It can be
administered by lb_admin from NCS for any NCS applications. The NCS
registrations will not be seen by the DCE rpccp command, and the
NCS lb_admin command cannot see the DCE registrations. It basically
maintains 2 separate databases.
