lpd on jetdirect can't handle large print jobs

Question:

print queue error after trying to print
error: rembak:(FATAL ERROR):0781-236 lost connection reading
socket.
 Response:

ENV: AIX 3.2.5
DESC:
Customer is running a big job to HP4si with jetdirect, 450 pages. They
are getting the following error:

0781-236 lost connection reading socket, socket reset itself. errno=73

ACT:
I search through database and found that the lpd running on jetdirect
is not function correctly one way to go around it is to change the
remote printing to jetdirect software through virtual printer.
.Further search I found the ix44693 might help the situation, if customer
insist to use lpd as protocol to print, I will send him the ptf to
try, but the first solution is really much better.

Response:

austext search shows following answers for large file problems
with piojetd. Answers from L3PRINT.

large graphic files he gets 20 mem overflow(
Piohpnpf send 4 K blocks at a time and if the size of the page is greate
r than the printer memory then he will this printer memory error.
The printer will require more memory in case for this particular file
that he is trying to print.

This seemed to fix the problem.

Suggest that you:
  1) Apply U435111 to get the new piohpnpf (get U435110 also)
  2) Get new firmware from HP by calling (800) 752-0900
If problem still persists, then we can run an iptrace and
you can fax or e-mail us the last few pages of the iptrace
to see if the problem occurs during communication - seems
odd that printing works fine over your WAN, but not to a
printer on the same network segment|

: The APAR IX49352 is reportedly for fixing the piojetd backend.
The problem is with a queue using this back end going into
a RUNNING state and not ever timing out. How do I get this
fix for a AIX 3.2.5 system?
A: This fix will only be available with AIX 4.1.x.

If using a remote item:
An APAR was created to adjust the timeout value for rembak. It was
APAR IX43800, and is included in PTF U432958 (superceed of ordered PTF).
IX43800 Problem description:
REMBAK TIMES OUT SENDING LARGE FILES TO PCS
rembak times out waiting for acknowledgement when
 printing remotely to PCs
The timeout value for rembak is now configurable by a flag with
the -T timeout option. The timeout value
They will implement by putting this in the /etc/qconfig as
 backend = /usr/lpd/rembak -T 2

I recommended the following fixes for him to get and will send
        them to him:
