Issues with multiple 3.2.5 boot nodes
Question:
Env: PSSP 2.1, AIX 4.1 on CW, 2 AIX 3.2.5 nodes in a partition. Desc:
If we set up our 3.2.5 partition to contain nodes 1 & 5 and set them
up so that each is a bootserver for the other, several problems arise.
.1. The routing table is incorrect. Since the customization causes each
node to route traffic through its boot install server to get to the
control workstation, each node ends up with a route to the other node
(Node 1 has a route through node 5 to get to the CW and node 5 has a
route through node 1 to get to the CW.) As a result, the routes put
you in a loop that never gets to the CW.
2. /etc/ssp/server_name gets set to point to the boot install server.
This messes up supper since supper never gets to the CW for an update.
3. /etc/ssp/server_hostname gets set to the boot install server.
Should these files be modified after the nodes have been setup to boot
from each other? If so, this needs to be documented? Do the files
need to be changed back to point to the boot install server before a
3.2.5 node is installed from its boot install server? We don't want
to make assumptions and the ESP class only said to set up the 3.2.5
nodes to boot from each other.
