Problem with sysback restoring data, error 1820-038
sysback ver 220.127.116.11
Customer is trying to restore a file from a full system sysback backup
and the customer is choosing to build a file list first. He gets
this error message about 6 minutes into the build of the file list.
1820-038: internal error: error in call to libcur/libcurses at line 283
1820-038: internal error: error in call to libcur/libcurses @ line 2886
The screen now seem all messed up. The customer stated he had to
log out then back in to fix it.
There is a 32K limit on the number of lines that can sent to the
ascii smit. Can't be fixed in AIX 3.2 or 4.1, due to the fact that
the problem exist in the libcurses libs and a fix would require all
users of curses to recompile their curses programs.
If your heart is set on using smit
1. Don't build the filelist, just type in the files
2. Use msmit (motif smit)
Or from the command line use the sysrestore command
Also the new release of sysback 3.3 has a method to shorten
the list of files to keep the user from passing the 32k limit
