RUNNING TCPIP AND LAND SERVER

E: AIX 3250 and LAN server for AIX V 1.1
D: The customer is having some peoblems getting the
LAN server going on the RISC. As far as the set up on
the RISC the customer currently has tcp/ip set up on
the adapter without any problem. He has also gone
through the set up of the LAN server on the RISC and
everything appeared to go fine inculding starting
the LAN server. But when the customer attempts to
login from a PC he gets the following error:
Login in progress
Remote node or nameserver is not available
N: Find someone to take the proble. This may need
to be queued to LSAIX, L165 in RETAIN.

lslpp -lB U426552 this hould point to U435178
lslpp -lB U431538 this hould point to U435178

Response:
Customer had added a few things to the /usr/lpp/lansrv/ibmlan.ini
file. Did a "net error" and cam up with the following:
NET 3055: A problem exists with the system configuration
explanation: The system is not configured correctly.
NET 3250: Initialization failed because of a invalid or missing
parameter in IBMLAN.INI
explanation: The remoteboot service couldn't start because of an
invalid line in the listed configuration file.
searched in Austext and found a few items that stated running
the /usr/lpp/lansrv/bin/cfgsrv script again is a good idea. Did this
and the NET 3055 error disappeared but the NET 3250 remained.
Got access to a system with a good IBMLAN.INI which was:
[ server ]
userpath=/home/lansrv
srvservices=alerter,lsserver,netlogon,replicator,remoteboot
listenname=lsaixsrv
[ workstation ]
domain=dlsaixsr
[ netlogon ]
scripts=repl/export/scripts
[ replicator ]
replicate=export
exportlist=dlsaixsr
[ remoteboot ]
rpl1=dlc.so /dev/mllc 0
[ services ]
remoteboot=lmx.rpl
We added in the lines of his that weren't there and all worked fine.
He now couldn't netlogin as admin from a remote os/2 requestor but we
we're able to add a user with administrator privilages by using the
user command under /usr/lpp/lansrv/bin with the format:
user -a -t a -p \ \
and he could now add users from a remote os/2 workstation with user
profile managment.
