Xstation 160 - Installation/Configuration
Question:
Caller can not boot XStation 160. Just installed PTF to provide
Xstation 160 SMIT support.
Answer:
On the Xstation do the following:
BASIC CONFIGURATION:
BOOTP method = direct
Terminal address = address of the Xstation
Gateway address = blank
Subnet mask = blank
Configuration Server = ip_address_of_server:/etc/x_st_mgr/xs160/cfg
Login Server XSTMD:9000
File Server TFTP:/usr/lib/X11
Font Server FILE:/usr/lib/X11/fonts
ADVANCED CONFIGURATION
PROTECTED CONFIGURATION
UPDATE SERVER= DISABLE
(this is since the /etc/x_st_mgr/xs160/upd files are
currently only placeholders - there are not binary
flash or post files available yet. When updates
occur - change this option back to enable).
IN SMIT on the RISC:
Configure the network type selecting X160serv as the bootfile
Configure the Xstation specifying the name, network type and the
hardware address and default the rest of the values.
Customer also did not have the /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc loaded so
we needed to delete that font path from the .cf file associated
with their network type in /etc/x_st_mgr and also in the file
associated with their ip address in /etc/x_st_mgr/xs160/cfg.
