    AIX 3.2.5
    TAPE 3490E on the RISC
         3480 on a mainframe

Desc:  Can I create 18 track tapes on my 3490e on the RISC so
       I can read them on the 3480 on the mainframe.
     
Action:     
       From a Hardware Announcement 194-027

       In addition to reading and writing 36-track tapes, the tape
       drive can read the older 18 track 1/2" cartridgle tapes, but 
       can not write in 18 track format.
