Needs help installing a 3.2.5 upgrade

   Env: AIX 3.2.3e upgrading to AIX 3.2.5

   Desc: Trying to do upgrade and needs help.

   Action: I took the call and we first had to find the level 
           of AIX he was running at.  Once we discovered that 
           he was at 3.2.3e we tried to install the installp
           fix U430214 and it failed 

 --> you have installed emergency fix ix33836 on this machine.
     you must uninstall this fix before installing any other PTFs.
     please run install.ix33836 -u to uninstall this fix

          I had him run this command and it failed with the following:

 -->install.ix33836 not found.          

           I searched on this in Austext and found
           several items with similiar problems.  I tried 
           to have him run 
                 ./install.ix33836
           this still failed.


   Desc: 
         We tried to run a find on the install.ix33836 we 
         could not find this on his system. I then 
         had him restore the e-fix from floppy and try to 
         remove with the following
               $ ./install.ix33836 -u
         as found in the README documentation for this fix.
         The following occurred:
     msg from system: paragraph space overflow:

                      paragraph space overflow:
                      Uninstalling ix33836 for Customer Name
                      Fix ix33836 uninstalled
          We then again tried to run the installp for 
          U430214 and it failed saying the following:

 --> you have installed emergency fix ix33836 on this machine.
     you must uninstall this fix before installing any other PTFs.
     please run install.ix33836 -u to uninstall this fix
 
   Action: I had the customer make a new copy of the 
           /usr/sbin/installp from another system or
           a bootable tape.  I had the customer copy
           the installp to a file named installp.old and then 
           remove installp.  We used the installation tape for 
           AIX 3.2.5 and ran the following commands:
                   
           --> chdev -l rmt0 -a block_size=512
               tctl fsf 3
               tar -xvf /dev/rmt0 ./usr/sbin/installp

           We then attempted to run the installp command 
           again and it was sucessful.  I then had him remove the 
           installp.old we created and go ahead with his upgrade.
           Upgrade was sucessful no further problems.
