HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SYSBACK

ENV: 3.2.5
        model 59h

DESC: Andy has received a demo diskette of Sysback Version 3.0.0.0
He has installed using smit and the product appears to have
install correctly. When Andy runs it, he gets messages
'running' and 'creating table of contents' and then
        nothing further appears to happen.

ACT: Verified that there are no other messages. This is an internal
5 gig 8mm tape drive. When Andy tries to read the contents
of the tape using the smit panels for same,
he encounters a message that the media is unreadable
or that the tape does not contain any data.
There were no hits in AusText on sysback.
I could not locate any hits in Xmenu Search function
on closed or open directories for the above circumstances.
I explained to Andy that we would research this

   Env:
        AIX 3.2.5
        SYSBACK ver 3.0.0.0
(this is one of the old beta versions)

   Action:
It is failing on the mkvginfo part. Run this command to
find out which vg it is failing on.

          lsvg
(shows all the vgs on the systems)

          mkvginfo rootvg
          mkvginfo dbvg1
          mkvginfo dbvg2
          (it hung on this one)

          lsvg -l dbvg2
There are no lv in this vg.

During the beta test this was a bug.
If a volume group has no lv in it then the mkvginfo
command will hang. This customer should not be using
this old beta version of sysback.

WORK AROUND: run the full system backup with this command.

          sysback -f /dev/rmt0 dbvg1

   Next Action:
Send out the most current version of the demo of sysback.
               Version 3.0.0.18
