Must I install InfoExplorer on disk so I can view Techlib from CD?
Question:
How do I install Techlib to Disk, so that I can still view Base InfoExplorer
from my CD Drive?
Response:
You really do not need to. The Techlib CD includes both the Techlib databases
and the InfoExplorer databases, so a customer that views InfoExplorer from CD
will not have to switch CDs to view Techlib.
Had you change your CD-ROM mount point to /usr/lpp/info/data/techlib
Now "info -l techlib" brings up techlib.
Next, had you
cp /usr/lpp/info/data/techlib/aix325/ispaths /usr/lpp/info/data/ispaths
Now "info" brings up InfoExplorer off CD.
Finally, you said you had removed all of InfoExplorer from disk. This
will cause the "missing softcopy help" message in smit. To get rid of
this message, we linked the En_US directory to the aix325 directory on
the CD like so:
cd /usr/lpp/info
rmdir En_US
ln -s /usr/lpp/info/data/techlib/aix325 En_US
and you are up and running.
