How to configure system to recognize mail adressed to user@domain?

Question:

After configuring sendmail, all mail is returned with the message,
"host unknown".  Mail is being addressed to user@domain.  Will this
work?

Response:

"SENDING" mail to user@domain is not a supported configuration.
The AIX software "SENDS" mail to user@machine.domain.parts.
There are steps in the Systems Management Guide:  Communications and
Networks which describes how to "RECEIVE" mail to and AIX machine and
have the user@domain syntax.

Be aware that changing things to make either of these things function
will usually affect the ability to "REPLY" to a mail memo.
