Sendmail not sending mail

Question:
  My mail delivery is not working. What are the correct permissions for 
  sendmail?

Response:

/var/spool/mail/user should be owned by user and the group should be 
mail with 660 permissions. 
 ls -l /var/spool/mail:
     -rw-rw----   1 username mail        8715 May 11 10:01 username
     -rw-rw----   1 root     mail       46032 May  5 08:26 root

Sendmail will continue to retry delivery unless the mail queue is flushed. 
The sendmail command can be used to configure the retry time:
     sendmail -oT5m -q &
