How can I configure tty for autobaud ?
Question:
How can I configure tty for autobaud ?
I am at 3.2.3 level.
Response:
In order to facilitate the multiple baud rate function, you enter
multiple baud rates separated by commas in the baud rate field of
SMIT for a tty port. In addition, you also need to specify multiple
bits per character, parity and stop bits as well. Therefore to con-
figure a tty port to answer 2400 and 1200 baud rate incoming calls
with 8 bits per character, no parity and one stop bit, the following
would be configured in SMIT :
BAUD rate 2400,1200
PARITY none,none
BITS per character 8,8
Number of STOP BITS 1,1
Gregg called back. He said they set the port to 9600, 4800, and 2400 baud.
When they are trying to dial, they are able to switch from 9600 to 4800.
When they are trying to switch from 4800 to 2400 they are getting garbage
and the modem hangs up.
Response:
Put your tty in pdelayed state with the command 'pdelay tty\#' .
If this will not work, they you have to upgrade to level 3.2.5, since the
tty subsystem on 3.2.3 was rewritten and there have been numerous fixes.
Response:
Gregg called back. He had upgraded to 3.2.5 and was still
experiencing problems. I verified that he had set everything up per
documentation, which he had. I told him that this problem should be
persued with software services since the autobaud feature was not
working as designed.
Response:
Gregg called back. He had resolved the problem by putting a comma
after the dial string on the PC that was dialing into the RISC. He
wanted to ensure that this was put in our database.
