DCE and Encina error messages during configuration
Question:
I am using rgy_edit to register the keytab entry and it fails with the
following error:
"Unable to add the key, requested key is unavailable."
The system is a Model 580 with AIX 3.2.5 and DCE for AIX version 1.2.
Response:
The rgy_edit ktadd command with the -r flag was used. When
this flag is used, it expects an existing keytab entry in the file.
There was not one. Using the rgy_edit ktadd command only with the -p
principal_name options worked. The password it asks for needs to match
the password for that principal in the security server.
The -r flag is used to set a new random password for a keytab entry
with an existing keytab entry.
When initializing the Encina log volume, with a restart area of 262144
(256k) and a log directory size of 8192k (8 MB), the customer got the
following message:
DCE-rpc-0148 0x16c9a094
Running the /usr/bin/translateError (Part of encExec.obj) with 0x16c9a094,
it returned "DCE-rpc-0148 incomplete name". This is caused by the fact
that the complete DCE CDS name of the logserver was not used.
The customer also got the message ENC-log-0224 (0x746F60E0). Running
translateError 0x746f60e0 returned "ENC-log-0224 Volume does not exist".
The Encina Log Server volume name was not entered properly. The following
smit menu shows the correct way for this to be done, assuming a logserver
with a DCE CDS name of /.:/encina/log/log1 and a logserver volume name of
"log1Vol".
