Encina servers output of standard error

Question:

The Encina standard error is written to a file in /tmp each time the
server is started. Can the file be changed
each time you restart the server such that the last standard error is
not over written when the server is restarted.

Response:

When Encina for AIX is configured from the Encina SMIT menu structure,
all servers configured (Logserver, Structured File Server (sfs), Encina
Cell Manager (ecm), and Encina Node Manager (enm) use AIX System Resource
Controller, SRC.

To change the file which standard error is directed to, use the chssys
command. For example, to change the file for standard error for the
Encina Logserver, Do the following:

Stop all other servers that are dependent on the server that is to be
changed.

Stop any Monitor Application Servers (wait for each to stop completely)

  monadmin stop server name_of_server_to_stop

Stop all Node Managers (wait for each to stop completely)

(If its cell manager uses an SFS server that uses the logserver)

  stopsrc -s enm

Stop the Encina Cell Manager (wait for it to stop completely)
(If it uses an SFS Server that uses the logserver that is to be changed)

  stopsrc -s ecm

Stop Any SFS Server using that Logserver

  stopsrc -s sfs

Stop the Logserver

  stopsrc -s logserver
  chssys -s logserver -e /new_path/new_file
  /etc/rc.encina logserver

It is also possible to redirect this using the "tkadmin redirect trace"
command without having to stop anything. This is only effective for the
current running system. For the last example, the ENCINA_TK_SERVER
variable would be set to the CDS name for the Logserver.
