Cannot restore from mksysb made with HACMP and CLVM.

Question:

I have two RISCs, both model 370 and both at AIX 3.2.4. These machines
are running with HACMP in mode 3. I have made a mksysb tape on
machine A, and would now like to clone it onto machine B. CLVM
(Concurrent Logical Volume Manager) was running on machine A when the
mksysb was made. Now, when I try to restore from the tape on machine B,
I get:

 /usr/sbin/mklv
 cannot find /usr/sbin/cluster/mode3
mklv:volume group rootvg is operating in concurrent mode
 operation not permitted

 1. Continue
 2. Perform maintenance

What can I do to install this system?

Response:

You will need to find bosboot floppies made on a system at 3.2.4 which
was NOT running in concurrent (CLVM) mode. Boot from these floppies
and select rmt0 as your install device. Install as usual, and this
should allow you to get around this error.

This solved your problem.
